Directors
James Smith
Jim's career first started in the Lancashire Police, which then developed into a 3 year
contract as an Inspector with the Royal Hong Kong Police. Following his legal
training with a Manchester law firm, Jim joined JSP's predecessor, in 1982 (latterly
known as 'Taylor Smith') undertaking general practice legal work until 1992 when
JSP Solicitors was formed. During 1996, whilst undertaking an MBA in Legal
Practice at Nottingham Law School, Jim restructured the firm to concentrate on niche
areas of practice. Whilst still maintaining a hands on approach to the case
management of client matters, his central role in the firm is as Managing Partner. His
main hobbies involve a losing battle (without admitting it) of trying to keep up with
his now much more agile and energetic sons, in a range of general sporting activities.
Jim regularly participates in the Lincoln 10k Road Run and the Rotary Club Santa
Runs.
Nick Whitemore
Nick Whitemore has been with JSP for 18 years. His primary expertise lies in RTAs,
Accidents at Work, Occupiers Liability and Highways claims. He has gained
considerable experience in claims of modest to significant value. Nick is responsible
for Client Care.
Christopher Caudwell
Chris came to the law at a somewhat later stage in life than many. He trained as a
farmer and worked the family farm for 10 years growing cereals and vegetables
before leaving to become the Production Director of a company which produces
vegetables for the major supermarkets.
He then achieved an LLB (Hons) (Lon) and took his Post Graduate Diploma in Law
at Leeds University. He then obtained his Masters Degree in Law (LLM) whilst in his
first year of a training contract with JSP Solicitors. Here he trained in Family Law,
Wills & Probate and Personal Injury.
He now specialises in Personal Injury.
He finds that his practical experience of the many problems which face people in
industry has enabled him to understand and empathise with clients. He has a particular
interest in Accident at Work claims.
Kim Overton
Kim has been at JSP for nearly 13 years, having started in June 1998. She started as
an office junior and is now a fully qualified solicitor and Director of the firm , having
been supported in her training by JSP. She took an LLB (Hons) law degree at
Nottingham Trent University where she achieved a 2:1.
Kim has been dealing with
Personal Injury cases since October 2002.
She deals mainly with Accident at Work claims, Highways claims and Occupiers
Liability claims.
Kim is also the Training Officer for the firm's PI Department.
